Ferrari has just unveiled the 849 Testarossa, a plug-in hybrid supercar that will replace the SF90 Stradale.

Under the hood is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 mounted in the center, combined with two front-mounted electric motors and a third located inside the eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle.

The V8 gets new cylinder heads, redesigned intake, and a lighter camshaft among other changes. The highlight, however, is the larger new turbos, which help the engine produce 819 hp, an increase of 50 horsepower over the SF90, along with 842 Nm of torque.

With the electric motors adding an extra 217 horsepower, total output rises to 1036 hp. Ferrari estimates 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 2.3 seconds, with the car capable of reaching 209 km/h (130 mph) in just 6.3 seconds.

Like the SF90, the 849 Testarossa can be driven in electric mode for up to 26 kilometers (16 miles) at speeds of up to 130 km/h (81 mph) and is powered by the same 6.5 kWh battery.

It’s worth noting that the 849 Testarossa is available as a coupe and Spider, with an Assetto Fiorano variant available for both versions.

The Spider features a retractable hardtop and an electric glass wind blocker between the seats, while the Assetto Fiorano swaps its dual rear tails for double rear wings.

Inside, the Testarossa features an immersive cockpit, with a central console shaped like a flying bridge and storage compartments underneath. The gearbox sits on a raised platform mounted at the top of the console.

It does not have a central screen; instead, the infotainment system is integrated into the driver’s display, though the passenger also gets an additional screen.

In Europe, the 849 Testarossa costs $540,000 for the coupe and €586,000 for the Spider, with the Assetto Fiorano specification adding roughly $62,000 to each version.
